There is not really a "best" antenna for the radio. VHF antennas come in various qualities. It is generally the construction of them which gets more robust as the antennas get more expensive. Signal is largely limited by "line of sight". So the taller they are, the better. If you need a 4' I prefer the Shakespeare 5400-XT, and if you want an 8' I prefer the Shakespeare 5225-XT
