Question: I have a 1989 legacy Hynautic steering system that uses 5/8" OD and 3/8" ID hose and is connected to reusable fittings. One hose started to leak so I want to replace both. Can't seem to find that hose anywhere. Can I use 3/8" OD hose and just get adapter fittings? I'd prefer to get just the hose and fittings and cut to length because I must feed the hose through a very narrow area.

I am not an expert on hoses and capacities that you'll need.  I can tell you that we do use this hose on Hynautic systems, so it should be fine for you if you can adapt the ends.  We put 3/8 Comptression fittings on each end. If you have a Parker Store near you, they generally have all types of hoses.
