    The New Power-Pole Move

For the last 5 years, it has been rumored that Power-Pole would eventually launch a trolling motor that would change the game. Earlier this year Power-Pole launched the Move. The Move Pivot (MOVE PT) and Move Scissor (MOVE ZR).

The greatness of this trolling motor has already been exemplified in the first Major League Fishing event on the Kissimmee Chain of lakes in Florida. Chris Lane, long time Power Pole sponsored angler was using the new Move and won over $100,000 in early February. Lane as well as several other professional bass anglers are already sporting this new motor, giving them an edge in competition. Professional angler and Bassmaster Elite Series professional, Drew Benton has had the Move on his boat for a few months. Benton says, “The Power-Pole Move is, hands down the fastest, most quiet, and solidly built trolling motor I have ever run. In every category, they raised the bar and without question is
    the best trolling m

    Serious Anglers and Forward-Facing Sonar

Live sonar has been the most common topic in the world of bass fishing for several years. In 2015 Garmin released Panoptix, the first of its kind.  Three years later Garmin released LiveScope. The incredible screenshots that anglers were capturing from LiveScope went viral.  Being able to distinguish different fish species in real time with the use of sonar was something special.  Not only identifying fish, but watching your lure being pulled through the water while fish chase is exciting!

Since then major fishing trails have been dominated with the use of this new technology on nearly all bodies of water. Not only bass fisherman, but anglers of all species; most notably, Crappie anglers desire the opportunity to fish with forward facing sonar.  Saltwater anglers are also utilizing this technology to target all different species offshore such as Cobia, Redfish, Flounder,

  7. What side of the boat do you mount a transducer?
    Questions & Answers
What side of the boat do you mount a transducer?

Question: What side of the boat do you mount a transducer?

Answer: A transducer should be mounted on the side of the boat with the downstroke of the outboard propeller, which is usually on the starboard side. An easy way to check this for your boat is to observe the direction of rotation of your propeller. If it’s clockwise, then your transducer should be on the starboard side, but if it’s anti-clockwise, then the transducer should be on the port side.

The side of the transom with the downward stroke of the prop has less turbulence than the side with the upward stroke, which is why it is the best transducer mounting location.

  10. All new Raymarine Cyclone Solid State Radar for Boats

All new Raymarine Cyclone Solid State Radar for Boats

Raymarine has just announced their all new Cyclone open array radar.  What makes it so new and great?  First, this is Raymarine's first open array solid state radar.  They've been doing this new technology for years with their Quantum domes, but now offer it in open array. Solid state radars generally use less power, emit less radiation, turn on faster, and most importantly the signal can be manipulated more. This last feature results in improved image quality, and some neat features.

The image quality is improved because this radar uses CHIRP (Compressed high intensity radar pulse).  This sends out a blast of frequencies and listens back for all of them.  To explain this at the most basic level, if a target is shown on multiple frequencies and missing on a few others, the system determines it is a real target. Conversely if a target only shows up on a few frequencies the system determines it is clutter and will not show it. This technology is now
