    Description

Deep water performance with no transducers protruding from the hull is what the M422 is all about. This in-hull, dual frequency wideband transducer is perfect for larger offshore fiberglass boats that are looking for deep water target performance. Operating at both low (47-52 kHz) and high frequency range (190-210kHz), this transducer performs out to 2000 feet. The M422, is a 1.5kW Chirp transducer designed for offshore vessels.

The transducer includes a plastic housing which is secured inside the hull of the boat and is filled with Eco-friendly anti-freeze. The transducer is inserted into the housing and adjusted for the proper dead rise offset, insuring the beam is shooting straight down. The liquid provides the best medium to transmit through the fiberglass and into the surrounding water. The benefits to the in-hull transducer are that there are no protruding features on the exterior of the hull making it the perfect choice for trailered or lifted boats. Designed for boat up to 30 feet with solid core, fiberglass hulls.

    Answer:
You will want to change the mix and match cable. Take off the 9 pin mix and match cable and purchase this 8 pin mix and match cable, MMC-8G.

    Answer:

There is no documentation to confirm this will work.  Although it is my opinion it would work.  You would need to cut off the included mx-n-match plug to expose the bare wires, and hard wire it to the BSM3.  Before ordering I'd suggest confirming with Simrad and Airmar. Shipping to Mexico is quoted at checkout when you put in your address.

    Answer:

That is a good question.  I have often wondered the same. Have never been given a good answer.  I assume because of the cheaper plastic housing.

    Answer:

This transducr is good for the 8410.  You need the xsv version though.  Needs to be 8410xsv with a Blue Sonar Socket on the back, and it will connect with the 8 Pin Garmin plug.  You can choose that for free on the product page for the M422. It will work great in your RIB if you have a solid bottom.  Most RIBs do. 500' will be easy for this transducer.

Hello again! I'm just wondering why the price is so low comparing to 1KW Chirp transducers? Thank you for answer and Merry Christmas guys!
By Mislav Lozancic on 26 December, 2020

I think because of the plastic housing.  Costs much less to make.

    Answer:

The 1871 will only do single channel chirp.  This transdeucer is dual band, so this would not be a good match.

    Answer:

Generally 3M 4200 is what is used to adhere these to the bilge. Some people go an extra step and use some fiberglass around the base.  An in-hull transducer loses about 30% of its range, but does not lose any sensitivity.  So you will get the same picture as an equivelant through hull, you just won't see down a far.
