Does this cover the columbia river from Astoria up to the Oregon/Washington border
Jim,
I have a 1988 Gradywhite 205 overnighter wth a 4.3L/Alpha I/O. I am looking for an auto pilot. The only option I have been able to find is the X-5 sport pilot. No one I know has had any experience with this setup and I don't know if there is a better option. I use the boat primarily for fishing in the Chesapeake Bay and sometimes for family outings. I think I would use the autopilot most when I am fishing.  My friend at work Capt Ken L. suggested that I ask you.

Thanks,
Chris

Jim ... I have an older Lowrance LCX-104C with the transom mount 200KHZ transducer w/temp.  Are there any Airmar transducers which would provide a performance increase?  I was looking at the P66 but could not find any reference to it working with the older LCX-104C.  thanks bill
I am looking at purchasing the new Raymarine E7D with the radar option. I am looking for mounting suggestions for my 2003 Hydra-Sport 233 CC. I would like to make a more permanent mount and was looking at mounting it inside the electronics box under my T-Top. Presently, I have my electronics mounted on the top of the console, using the original factory gimbal mounts. They work well, but are not secure and require the removal of the electronics 3-4 times a day. Your thoughts and suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Wayne Murphy

Please this cable fuction whith DSM 300?
Jim....I have a 31 Baha twin screw 350 inboards...I am looking to change my steering over to Hydraulic steering...I will be installing a Raymarine Smart pilot auto pilot.....What Hydraulic steering unit do you suggest?
It can use an external speaker.  I do think it is the best radio for your application. I use it personally.  A great antenna to go with it is the Shakespeare 5225-xp.
Hi Keith, I think you emailed me too about this.  I think this unit would be fine.  You might also consider the Simrad NSS12.  The B60 ducer would be ideal.
Lowrance Gen2 units are here to replace the popular Gen1 units that came
before them. The Gen1 units have been the most successful electronics product
in recent history. At least that I can remember from the last ten years.
Offering an easy to use interface, the best FF technology, and host of other
"bullet points" normally reserved for expensive offshore units like networking,
nmea2000, radar, Sirius Weather, etc.

The new Gen2 units have taken this great platform and "super sized" it. The
new Gen2 units have a much faster processor enabling them to scroll, zoom, and
move between menus instantly. The new processor will also enable them to handle
more robust features that they have now, and will introduce during this
product's life cycle. One of these new features is the "StructureMap". Say
what? OK, try to keep up...

First there was StructureScan. StructureScan is Lowrance's proprietary side
imaging technology that allows you to actually see a 3D image of the bottom. It
works great down to about 150' and in deeper water to look for bait or to see
under things like weed lines, rigs or buoys. Structure Scan can be added to any
HDS unit. Now there is StructureMap. StructureMap is new feature where you can
overlay this 3D StructureScan image right on top of your map. As the boat moves
along it will paint this picture right on the map. How cool is that!!? This page on Lowrance's site will explain it all.

So just what do you get with a HDS Gen2 unit? All of the units (except those
with an M on the end, like HDS-5M) come with a built-in GPS antenna and built-in
Broadband Fishfinder. The units come with either no maps (Base Map), or Insight
USA maps (fresh water and coastal maps for the entire USA). The 5" units
separate the Insight USA maps into Lake Insight which is anything freshwater, or
Coastal Insight which is anything saltwater. HDS units also come with a choice
of transducer. You can get no transducer, the 83/200 transducer, or the 50/200
transducer. No matter which transducer your unit ships with, any Lowrance
transducer with a Blue plug is compatible. You can also add Navionics Platinum
Plus SD Maps to any HDS unit whether you have a Base unit or an Insight unit.

Speaking of maps....for Lake boaters and fisherman I think the Lake Insight
maps are all you'll want or need. For Coastal fisherman there are some other
options. If you plan to take your boat up and down the coast, and maybe hit a
freshwater lake or two, then I recommend you get the Insight USA maps. This way
you are covered no matter where you go. If you stick to one general region I
recommend you get the Base unit and add the Navionics Platinum Plus maps. The
price will be the same either way (HDS unit with Insight USA maps preloaded, vs
a HDS Base unit with no maps and adding a Navionics map). The card format a HDS
unit needs is SD.

Transducers....which one should you get?... Assuming you have an outboard
boat here is what I suggest; if you typically fish in water less than 150' then
get the 83/200. Deeper than 150' then get the 50/200. If you primarily bottom
fish exclusively in any depth then get the 50/200. If you have an inboard boat,
or an outboard boat over 25' then you'll want to get a thru-hull transducer.
These are Bronze and require the dreaded hole to be made in your hull. Don't
worry, all the bigger boats have the. The B60 from Airmar is common. A common
upgrade to the included transom mount transducers is the Airmar P66 Transom
Mounted Transducer.

HDS units can also Network. This means you can take a Lowrance ethernet
cable and connect it from one unit to another to share everything but the chart
data. You can also add radar, Sirius Weather, and Structure Scan which all
connect via ethernet cables. If you plan to network more than 2 devices, like a
radar and 2 displays, then you'll need a network Hub like the NEP-2. You can avoid using the hub by buying the LSS1 StructureScan module which has a hub with 3 ports
built-in.

The LSS1 StructureScan module is Lowrance's answer to Side Imaging. It
actually allows you to see a 3D image of the bottom up to 150' on both sides of
the boat! It has redefined fishing. The LSS1 includes a transom mounted
transducer. You'll want to mount this transducer so it is not blocked to either
side by something else. This will give it the best viewability to both sides.
If you have an inboard boat you'll need a thru-hull LSS1 transducer. These are
mounted using a fairing block. If your boat has a real deep vee or if you have
a keel then you'll need to use 2 thru-hulls. One on each side. The LSS1 is
sold without a transducer for those needing a thru-hull.

Radar. HDS units use Lowrance's new Broadband radar which is the best thing
going for short range navigation through fog or at night. It is the best short
range radar available. It turns on instantly, uses very little power, and does
not emit any harmful radiation. They currently offer a 3G radar and 4G radar.
Both use the same housing and look identical. The 4G radar adds some
performance gains. Most notably the ability to narrow down the horizontal beam
width for better target separation.

Sirius Weather. With the Sirius weather module called the LWX-1 you can
easily add real time weather data to your HDS unit. This is a subscription
based service. You can also output Sirius audio to your stereo if your stereo
has an auxiliary input.

The HDS units are also NMEA2000 compatible making them work with an almost
endless list of heading sensors, full flow sensors, engines, etc.

I fixed the duplicate entries so they should just be on there once now.  We have two of the 102 and 2 of the 108 in stock.  They will fit a standard sized rod.
